Just in time for St. Patrick's Day...

I have been babying this goofy Poinsettia for several months now.  It was at Mom's house, and had been knocked off the table, breaking branches, and just not having a real good time, plant wise.  She offered it to me, and I took it.

Whereupon it tried mightily to die on me.

Lost almost all its leaves, and was just on the verge of being trash canned.  I gave it extra water, and fertilized it, kept it near a sunny window, and then I saw tiny little leaves forming.  So I let it grow.  Well, it's St. Patrick's day, and it decided it wanted to show off, I guess.

So, here's a wee bit o' Blarney from Me to You. Even if it is red
(Think it'll grow shamrocks in time for Christmas?)

I have a Christmas Cactus that always blooms for Thanksgiving. Guess it's in a hurry for Santa to get here already!

Well, er. It is improving... At least there ARE leaves, plural, on it now...

At the risk of stunting its growth, yes, it is a very ungainly thing. Hope springs eteranal, and plants can't read, so hopefully it will improve...

Yes, My mom had one that seemed like it would bloom at oddball times, too. Don't these silly plants know what there time to bloom is SUPPOSED to be? Hmph. ;) But maybe you are right, it was just eager for Santa!

I think it's beautiful. Of course, I always did root for the underdog.

In a gangly teenager sort of way, I think I might agree with you. I just sincerely hope it grows OUT of that stage. ;)
