I am not alone... (cue spooky music)

Was walking a few days ago, and heard an engine coming by.  Now, this is unusual.  I can hear the road, down from our place, but this was CLOSE...

Like someone was driving up behind me.

Rudee was even looking around.  Where I walk is about a 100 yards from the closest neighbor, and even more so from the one on the other side.  I looked to see if it was husband, although it didn't sound like the 4 wheeler.  Nope, no one coming up the hill.  But the engine noise WAS STILL THERE.

Okay, this is getting really, really wierd.  I hear it, and look over at the neighbors.  Are they doing something to the cows, or horses?  No...

Husband isn't around.  Dang, it sounds like it's on top of me!

(click...)

I look up in time to see a motorized paraglider buzz over my head.  Amazingly, Rudee didn't bark, he just sat down and intently watched the rig fly by.  It turned and flew off twoard the mountains, and the rest of my walk was uneventful.

Highly unique, never know what you'll see when you tramp about our place!

(Little note to my friends in the US, today is National Night Out, there is a goal of trying to get all children fingerprinted, you can go to most of the gatherings and receive a phamplet to do it yourself, or get information on how to get it taken care of.  Cheap insurance, as it were.  Plus, most of the Night Out activites are pretty fun, so if you get a chance, have a Night Out!)

Very interesting! I have yet to see one, live and in person.

About the finger printing of children - we had our son's done when he was about 18 months. I was looking at it the other day and remembered - NONE of the prints were anything distinguishable, they were in such a hurry, with the long lines, they didn't even try to get good prints. I do, however have a good print of the side of one of his hands (that wasn't supposed to be printed). I should have made them do it all over, but he was getting cranky etc.....

Boy that would have made me leery as well until I saw it!

What an eerie thing that must have been! I hate electric or running water or motor sounds that shouldn't be there and that I can't identify.

Have a great Night Out!

I hate National Night Out around here. Most of the people that go do give a rip about the child safety thing. They just want to go party or see what kind of free things they can get. We make it a national night in! I don't think they are much on finger printing dogs, cats, or chickens. MMmmmmmm...I love chicken fingers!

I believe it was the first I had seen in this area, I saw one, parked, at the coast once. Never seen one flying before.

I am sorry that the prints turned out so badly. They actually give out little fingerprint kits with an explanation on how to do it, so you can print your child at your 'leisure'. (Also, it hopefully lowers the "let's get ink all over creation, because it's so fun to make black spots" syndrome.)

I think he was, he just kept staring at the thing going by, with his head cocked in this "HUH??" type expression. He never barked, he was so intent on watching it.

Oooooh, yeah. I was beginning to wonder if I had someone on the place on a motorcycle, or if they were chain-sawing at one of the neighbors. That was all I could come up with!

Boy, you and I are cut from the same cloth, if I hear a sound I can't identify, it drives me buggy until I figure out the source. (And it's only gotten worse since I've married, as my husband has a hearing problem, and will ask, "What's that noise?" I have to then figure out what noise, in particular, he's trying to hear, and what 72 other noises are around, so it turns into 20 questions on occasion...)

Well, I will be the first to admit, the activities vary greatly between groups. Ours happened to have a real good band, and a cop dunk tank, (but the cops got to defend themselves with super soakers), as well as a car show, so ours was pretty fun.

You know, it's too bad they don't have something for i.d. of pets, too. Chickens might be a little hard, but pet tags, and micro chipping would be a good draw. Oh, Randy, this would be a great idea in our area. If the local folks can have a drawing for a weekend at the coast, I think we could set up a free microchipping, or some such. (Microchipping a chicken. Hmm. Watch out on that next chicken finger, there...)

:)
