Sunday Supplement... Painful edition. Ow.

Well, boys and girls, remember when I tell you that I feel good, so I go out and try to kick the world's... rear, and it ALWAYS comes back to bite mine?

Yeffir.  I worked at the faire site, (ren faire in about 2 weeks!), and tried out the new toy.  I now have a weed eater. I still like my scythe, but this can go much faster, and when you are working with a group, needing to remind people to get OUT OF THE WAY, when you are swinging a blade almost three feet long... Sheesh, you think this would be obvious, but no.  Somehow, they do figure out the buzzing noise box IS potentially not so healthy.

I had on the glasses, the ear covers, and I whacked away for about 5-6 hours.

I felt GREAT!

This morning?

Um...

I found out there is a muscle that runs from the base of my wrist, to the crook of my elbow, and the two of them have declared war on my person.  I can move my arms (had to, as I had to water and feed), but let's just say, I will not be climbing any monkey bars (HA!!), or whacking any weeds, or anything else much that I don't absolutely HAVE to do...

Aspirin.  Many, many aspirin.  Ow.

The irony, here?  I was on my feet the whole time?  I have in NO pain my ankles or legs.  I was walking and moving, wearing my big UG-U-LY steel toed work shoes that are the most comfortable things I own, and was never on cement.

So I can walk fine today.  It's just anything that involves my arms that's a problem.  Things like, oh, reaching for feed, lifting a fifty pound bag of dog food, putting food in my mouth, you know, that sort of thing.  So far, typing hasn't been too bad, as long as I rest my hands on the desk.  (My typing teacher would shoot me, but she isn't here, so I am good), and Who Knows if I can knit today.

Think perhaps this would be a good day to catch up on letter writing, on the computer.

Will I ever learn?

(Don't answer that...)

Is it a powertool, this weedeater? I guess you should have paced yourself over the entire weekend not just Saturday. Hope you feel better soon and got some letter writing out of the way.

Oh, I really wanted to answer that question, but, since I can't, I'll just say -- ditch the aspirin, and go for the ibuprofen.

And, seriously, I hope you feel better soon.

Ouch! Your sore muscles! Yep, I pay dearly, every time I get carried away with any project. You know - you have to do it again, just a little while, to stretch those muscles that are cringing.

Good job though, 5 hours! Whew!

sorry to hear you're in pain. try gentle stretches: arm extended, palm up and with your other hand GENTLY press down on the fingers of your upturned palm.

I used to get that when I played tennis. It sucks.

Hope you feel better soon.

My sympathy. I wasn't paying attention to where Little Girl was mopping in the Sunday School Building before church this morning and I twisted my knee when I landed.

So no answer, just sympathy. I hope your arms feel better by tomorrow, and everyone enjoys the letters.

I think that muscle may be called your brachioradialis and YES, it's uber painful when you overwork it! Rest up and hugs!

Canyon Girl:

Yes, I believe that another term for it is a string trimmer. And, with the group I was with, that really wasn't an option, plus, (blush) I was trying to keep up with my Dad, which is never smart...

And I did finish 2 letters, so some good came out of it!

Asprin comment was actually from a cartoon I wanted to post, but, of course couldn't find. But I did end up using ibuprofen, it knocked it down a bit, yes. (sigh of relief...)

Yep, as has been said about others in my family, I am stronger than I am smart. In this case, endurance wise, anyway... But yes, I will just try and not see if I can mow a whole field in one sitting next time. (I can be such a dip.)

That worked pretty well! Thank you! Now, hopefully I won't DO it again... that would work even better!

Oh, my word, not good. Please tell me you didn't mess anything up? Sore is one thing, tore is real bad...

Used the innernets and yes, that is the muscle! I actually had a slightly different name, but we won't discuss that in polite company... But it is much improved, and thanks!
