Scale day...

Okay, let's get this out of the way.  I gained 2.4 pounds.  I am getting close to Auntie Flo's lovely visit, and I was craving salt.
For any Trekkies out there, I think I am related to
the Salt Vampire this week.  Hair looks similar
in the morning, too...

So, I know exactly what I did, what I can do to control it, (mostly), and I did some extra walking, and will continue to do so to get back to the down hill slide...  It irks me, but isn't a deal breaker.

On the other hand, for some reason, Husband has just clicked that my end goal is Alaska.  (I have been working on weight loss with that as the "big prize" for some time, and he just NOW realizes it?  Eh...  But then, he doesn't hear real well, and doesn't read my blog. Unless I bug him to.)

THIS could get interesting, folks.

He is now saying, when you lose the weight in a year, we will...

Oh, my.  He has high hopes, doesn't he?

We had gone out, and I will admit, we went to a well known chicken restaurant that seems to serve food a la' salt.   I did enjoy more of the stuff than possibly I should have, but I also porked out on Jello cubes.  (This seems to amuse the waitstaff, for some reason.  What can I say, it tastes good, I don't believe it's real salty, and it's not going to be quite so kamikaze on my waistline...)  He knows that Wednesday is my scale day, and I let him know that I had gained this week.  He looked shocked, then said, "Well, we won't be doing that again, bad choice, huh?"

I love my husband, however,  I will do nasty things to him if he turns into the food police...  I made the choice to go to Deadcluckers and have dinner as much as he did. One meal in a week generally doesn't blow the diet out of the water for me.  The extra cheese, salting food I don't normally salt, and having a second meal out, and forgetting to ask them to go easy on the salt shaker was my downfall.  I have no clue why I get salt or sugar cravings at this time, but this is when I need to be ultra vigilant.

Um, as you can see... Not so much.

So, now I have mixed emotions.  I am doing well, this is just a bump in the road, but at the same time, I don't need Husband Engineering getting involved with my weight loss to the point I want to pull my hair out, or pound him.

I know that Alaska is someplace he's not been, and wants to go to, (his dad was born and raised in Alaska.  Palmer? Homer? Marge? Bart?  I don't remember which town, right now), and he would love to do some fishing and boating there.  So would I.  But I have been working hard on thinking of this being a lifestyle change, this is what's good for me.  I don't want to go back to "good food, bad food, you ate too much..."   That, I have found, doesn't seem to be good for anyone.

But, hopefully, I will be back on track again, and then the "vampire" will be gone for a while.  However, if you are a anthropomorphic salt shaker, I would advise against visiting right now.

Just sayin'.

It's good to have someone close to you helping out, but I understand when help becomes a "would you shut the hell up and pass the chips" nag. I finally got my BF to understand that we can still go out for "bad foods", I just plan around them. Doing an extra workout and making sure to stick to my meal plans. Now, if I can get him to be as diligent with me and my $$ we'd be a super awesome couple kinda like the Obamas (just not living in the White House and the other screwed up stuff).

I like your attitude, lady. You just keep on thinking the way you do and you'll get there. We all turn into the salt vampire, or our particular equivalent, from time to time. The trick is to laugh at her, and send her back where she belongs.

If husband starts overengineering, tell him to go soak his head. ;)

Once the time of the month passes, the water weight from the extra sodium will also. Good for you for not letting it throw you.

Better to have the diet police than a husband that ate goodies in front of you going "mmmmm, this is so good!"

Hmm, salt and sugar cravings, I always wanted pizza or spaghetti and chocolate! I still get those cravings without the visit!

I have zero will power and if it's in the house... I eat it, I have to stop this! I do not, however eat any extra salt ever, my hands and feet swell up like Minnie Mouse!

Well, anyway, I am not sure, but I think losing too fast is an easy way to gain it back right away.

Have a good night now and dream of Alaska!

Alaska! That is one place I would also like to visit. A friend of mine grew up near Anchorage and she would tell me how boring it was there.
Good food is hard to say no to. Oh heck, I just love food!

Since I`m not a salt shaker I feel safe visiting. =)

I get those salt cravings too for some reason!

Hey! I'm in mid-cycle right this very moment, and I'm sitting at my desk at work eating a snack pack of pretzels....only 160 cals for these babies and i am in salt heaven, lol. I totally get the sweet/salty thing. Did I mention I'm not weighing in tomorrow? lol

I was craving salt when I got home today, so when I drained the last of the vinegar brine out of a jar of homemade dill relish to use the relish, the brine went straight in a drinking glass. Then I sucked it down. I don't know why. I do know that the salt will be gone from my body in a few days, and I'll bet it'll exit yours too, if not in time for weigh-in.

I have always loved salt since I was little. I would buy pickles instead of candy bars and pour salt in my hand to lick (until someone found me with the salt shaker.) So, I understand the desire for salt. It is hard to stay away from. I went from salt to a great love of lemons. Good luck with the salt vampire. :)

Yes, having someone on your side is a good thing, but there are challenges... You just have to, ahem, remember that they are TRYING to help, although that can be debatable, on occasion. And yes, having a relationship like the Obamas would be great, but no way I want to live in the White House. How many other places do you know that you have visitors EVERY SINGLE DAY? :)

Isn't that what they did on Harry Potter, said the magic word Redickolus, or some such, and it sent the Boggart away? My Boggart is a Salt Vampire! Who knew?

It's hard, but yes, I am trying to realize that ups and downs are NORMAL. Annoying... But normal.

And for the most part, he *doesn't* overengineer. I am going to encourage him not to start, on this occasion, too...

No, for what ever reason, chocolate is one that I just have generally, it tends to be salt that I crave anymore. I do tend to keep stuff out of the house that tempts me, anymore, why have it there, if it does me no good, right?

And yes, I understand that there are diets that you lose dozens of pounds in a very short time, one of my friends tried it, she lost like 70 pounds in about as many weeks, ended up sick, and gained it all back in short order, plus a few. Not exactly a poster model for me!

Alaska Dreams, that would make a nice blog...

I suppose it depends on what your idea of boring is. I know I've had people talk about how beautiful my chicken yard is, and all I can think of is "They can't see that it needs cleaned, and all that poo???" So for each one's exotic dream scape, it's someone else tedium, I guess...

Food? I second the motion! :)

Actually, if a saltshaker came up and started talking to me, I think that would be about the time I would wonder what was in whatever I just ate! LOL

Oh, pretzels, I don't know why, but I don't like them much, except for the super thin straight, swizzle stick looking ones. When I was very small, I would eat the salt off the curly shaped ones, so my salt urge has been around a long time...

I used to love to do that, but now find that I have a major problem with getting rid of the swelling I get, so pickle juice (dang, I am salavating here...), isn't on the menu anymore. Not that I don't like it, just it don't like ME!
