Pictures of mutants... And just strangeness.

Ok, this is the pumpkin that I was telling you about, see, just a long ol' pumpkin vine...

This is a pumpkin growing on it, it's the "Big Max" type pumpkin.  I won't get any award winners for size, but I didn't try, either...
THIS is where it gets odd.  See the big crooknecks?  These are the base of the same plant that has the lovely pumpkin.  And these are about a size 9 (US) women's shoe, so they are getting a bit large...

And these, well, I just added for fun.  I guess that some people don't realize that you can scratch a picture on a pumpkin (these are a different batch than the Big Maxes), and the picture will 'scab over' making it show rather pronouncedly.  I decided to play with a few I had for some kids I know, if they want them, if not, heck,  I have a front porch...

This one I might keep. Senyour Funnyface
(Yes, I know I spelled that wrong, can't make the n squiggle...)

So, I hope that gives you a laugh today, and you can see the strange doings with my pumpkins.  I have one more 'carved' pumpkin, but I have to cut it a bit deeper, it's barely visible...  More pics when things "show".

You cracked me up with the n squiggle comment! I tried to make one once, and while it works on Microsoft Word, I can't get it to work on Blogger either!

Will you show pictures after the pumpkins are done growing too? I've never seen the before and after of pumpkin drawings!

Yes, you gave me a laugh, thanks.

Senyour Funnyface is one i might try to imitate when we get a pumpkin to carve in October, if you don't mind.

Yes, I tried several ways to make the "n squiggle", (I took Spanish, but other than forming the letter itself, it is pronounce n-yay... But that doesn't help writing it in a sentence.) I tried to or three ways, but Baby Hal is the first computer I have had, without the "squiggle" key. So, I do what I can... Eh.

I will try and make a point of showing the end result, but they look fairly much now like they will look, except for being orange (hopefully...).

Thank you! The other thing? I just was messing about with a couple more pumpkins, didn't cut them deep enough for it to 'scar' properly.

Grin! And yes, feel free, it's one eye looking up, one eye looking down, and a drunkard's path home for a smile.

Interesting mutants!
Last year I had some volunteers growing in my compost pile. I thought they were mutant squash plants. We ate the squash.. it was OK. I laughed a few weeks later when I discovered they weren't "squash" at all.... they were pumpkins!

Yes, volunteers can be an experience... Haven't had many here, but did at my old place.

Next year! Pumpkins. I am not going to forget, or delay. I want pumpkins in my garden. Yours look great.

Yeah, even if you don't eat them, they are fun to decorate with!

But you CAN make that spanish n squiggle. When you're in "edit html" in your blog post composer, type this: ñ (now hopefully these comments don't read html)

It never crossed my mind to draw on my pumpkins. I'll have to remember that one!

Ha ha. I saw on the preview that it changed it directly. Just my luck.

It's this, without the spaces: & n t i l d e ;
