Finished socks, boring birthdays, and odd projects.

This was Rudee waiting for me to come outside the other day.  Husband was calling him, and he would look over, then stare through the glass at me.  I tried to get more pictures, but Rudee would turn his head each time, and so it came out a smear.  But he still wants me out with him.  Let's just say, I am getting tired of not being able to walk with him, and he's tired of me not walking with him... (sigh)...

I have been knitting, I finished my "Cop Socks".  So called, because I have to wear black with my 'uniform' for either job, ambassador, or receptionist.  I made these for the receptionist job, one of my bosses likes to have the air conditioning on when she is in the building.  I am sitting right under the vent.  On a concrete floor.  Any extra "layers" make it much more tolerable...

I know it's been cold on occasion, when the deputies, with bullet proof vests, heavy denim shirt and occasionally rain coats come in... And shiver.  Or when it's about 90+ in the summer, (30+ for my Celsius readers), and I have to go outside to warm up.  Literally.  But if that's the worst I have to complain about, I'm good.  Besides, it gives me a reason to knit.

Oh, and the heels?  My eyes were crossing, knitting all that black.  I decided, no one is going to see the heel.  So, I took a break and knit a nice red...  (A little leftover Mojo sock yarn.  Thought that was appropriate...)

Well, Husband's birthday is tomorrow.  I don't have a thing for him.  I am going to have to dig, to see if I can scare up a birthday card.  I kept trying to get into town, with less than no luck, so I guess happy birthday will have to do.  I have one 'in the spring' gift I will tell him about, to do with pets, but in case he happens to look at the blog today, I will wait on giving out the specifics.  But it sure would be nice to do something for him.

The odd, and possibly good thing, though, is this guy doesn't do "big" celebrations.  I love to decorate for Christmas, I think parties are fun, him?  Meh.  If you say "Happy Christmas", he's fine.  He isn't a Scrooge, or a Grinch, he just thinks a gift is a gift, and you don't need some special thing for celebrating.  Which is fine.  He doesn't have a problem with my decorating, even though some years it looks like Santa Claus barfed in the house, but he knows that's MY thing, and so he just humors me.

With my leg, this year's decorating?  One Christmas rose, gift from Mom.  A small figurine of "It's a Wonderful Life" I found in the Christmas card box (no, I don't know why it was in there), and the card basket, that is festooned with painted candy canes.

Boy, we are just power Ho-Ho-Ho-ing here!  I am trying to keep in mind, I will have to put BACK everything I get out, and right now, I can't get all that much out, without an avalanche.  Guess where all the stuff was put, so I could get around the house?  Yes, boys and girls, right in front, and on top of, the Christmas stuff.  So, I am trying to not get annoyed with all the lack of Christmassy "stuff" that is out, or not out, in this case, and am trying to remember the important things.  I have healthy family, my animals are doing well, the fox the neighbor saw hasn't disturbed my chickens, I haven't managed to fall on the cat (but she is majorly freaked by my cane...), and Rudee is still waiting (im)patiently for me to get better.

So, what are my doings right now?  A Santa style hat with verigated yarn.  I am not sure I like it.  I will probably finish it, but if my opinion of it doesn't improve soon, it will be a member of the frog pond (non knitters, frog, when you rip-it, rip-it...) I have some glow in the dark yarn, that I am considering for a pair of socks.  Why?  'Cuz I have a LOT of it, and thought it would be a fun thing.  Have to knit up a bit, it does feel a bit on the scratchy side, so I might or might not do it...

I name my sock creations, I have Cop Socks (above), and Can't Be Done Socks, (because someone in my group said you could NOT knit spun singles into a sock, and I did), Harmonic Rainbow socks, (Dad named these, because of the colors), and so on.  Well, if I get the glow in the dark socks knit, I need a name.  Obvious names would include ghost, I suppose. Ghost Walker, Ghost Socks.  I was trying to put it  in with Dickens, because of the season, Ghost of Christmas Socks Past or some such.  I just don't know what I will call them.  Any thoughts on the subject?

Phantom of the Sock-ra? (Ok, yuk.  That's bad, even for me... Besides, I don't think he was a ghost...)

Cop Socks do need mojo, and i'm sure your DH will be happy for you to just heal up.

Glow in the dark socks? Hm, i'll have to think about that.

As for Christmas, there is next year to let Christmas explode through the house. That's the good thing about it, unlike some things, it comes back year after year.
