These two are intense hunters, there is not a 'fishing' worm safe for now. They turn over rocks, they tear through moss, they tip over downed branches. Anywhere they think there might be a bit of dinner, they are going to go through it.
I haven't seen a nest in the tree, but the tree is pretty large. When the weather gets a bit more dry, I might set a chair in the yard and watch, and see if I can spy where they go to. I must say, they seem pretty laid back about the chickens, they stay out of the yard.
When they come up to the fence and Longtail gets all aggressive, crowing and sticking his head up to the fence in challenge, they will turn and look at him like, "Really?", then go right back to digging bugs and worms. Longtail hasn't gotten the hint yet...
(Oh, and I did name them Heckle and Jeckle, but found out, a) Heckle and Jeckle are Magpies, not Crows, and b) they were both boys, hence the "ette"... Meh, can't win 'em all...)

I didn't know that Canadas will land in trees! Weird.
Our stupid rooster lets the crows strut around his chicken yard. The gander, though... No crows allowed in Bitor's territory (though he'll let rabbits in). :)
Name us what you will, i can hear them say, as long as you don't call us late to dinner. Trust me, too, crows are smart enough to know if you do.
I always thought Hecke and Jeckle were crows. Learn something new every day.
Hope you are treated to spotting the nest soon!
ha! if you hadn't told us h&j weren't crows, none of us would've known better. you could've named them bert & ernie and no one would've minded that they weren't muppets. ;o)
