Well, I am getting my garden in, I might actually have it in before July 4th! (Believe me, this is amazing for me. We usually have a swamp until mid July...)
I started thinking about the 'stuff' I am planting, and I have a feeling I will have a very interesting harvest, if all comes up like it's supposed to.
To wit:
Carrots: white, yellow, orange, red, and purple.
Tomatoes: red, yellow, and blue (ish).
Peppers: red, yellow, brown, purple.
Beans: green, yellow, and purple.
Kohlrabi: green, red.
Then there is the yellow crookneck squash, green zucchini, eggplant from a friend, (So, are they dark purple? They are growing great guns, and I thank you much!!!), and some watermelon, that I think is yellow... I believe that I will have a highly decorative lunch soon. Oh, and corn. Oddly enough, that is just standard yellow. Oh, and there should be turnips and beets on that list. (White and red, respectively.)
So, yes, I did go a bit nuts with color this season, but we shall see what the Darwinian Gardener gets for this experiment in Skittles gardening... (Whooole different meaning to tasting of rainbows!)
IF all goes well, (and for a pleasant change, it has), we shall have a few chicks soon. Taurus has actually stayed setting. She is a bit of a fickle bird, but she is intent now...
And if I have the date right, she should be having chicks about the 29th. (Pics when they pop.) I knew she was serious, when Longtail got up onto the nest, and was trying to get her to come out. She turned, and bit him on the butt! He launched out, and she must have bit fairly stoutly, as she had two or three feathers in her beak. I noticed he was not quite so anxious to be up there after that...
So, we shall have the little golden-red fuzzy puff balls soon. If all hatch, 5. Now I just need to come up with names for them.
Ok, I know, it's the official "Naming of chicks" request. If you have a suggestion, feel free to chime in. If there are more than 5 names, I will put them in the magic sorting hat, my cowboy hat, and draw out five to make sure they all get names. Let's just say, Husband is always wondering about my sense of humor when I think of names like "a la King", or "Soup".

Your story of Taurus doing that to Longtail reminds me of Bill Cosby, who says during his wife's first labor she yelled, "You did this to me!" She doesn't want any more of that attention right now, thank you very much.
Hmm, chicken names, when i'm used to kitten names. Humphrey Birdgart? Queen Elizabird? A friend of mine grew up in a family that raised a beef cow for their own consumption every year, and they would always name it things like "Hamburger" or "T-bone" so they wouldn't let themselves get too attached.
It sounds like you have a wonderful garden in progress. But having just returned from Turkey where I was served eggplant at all hours of the day and night. I can't bear to look at the stuff anymore. But enjoy.
Love your colorful garden. I planted purple carrots... they haven't come up yet. I may need to try another batch! You've inspired me! Maybe I'll just have to find some colorful veggies, too!
I was all st to try to think of some cute names, then saw yours and now have Cutlet stuck in my head!

Glad to hear the eggplants are doing well! :-) and yes, they should be purple I believe. Been awhile since I looked at the seed packet they came out of.
How fun to have your garden going. We won't have one this year, just a container one. It has been so darned cold at night, 36 in the morning here today. Hope all goes well with the chickens.
