I was looking at the right side of my blog. You know, where the blog list is. I was thinking about the A to Z challenge. I am a hoarder of blogs that catch my interest, and if anyone has looked at the list I have accumulated, it's not tiny. It isn't the full list, as I have a few that hadn't blogged in over a year, or were personal to me, what have you, and are private. But looking at the list, I keep thinking, I really want to do something to make the list a bit more tidy.
I have been thinking of a shorter minimum for removal, like what... 6 months? 3 months? ONE month? I don't always comment on blogs, and I am the first to say, I sure don't write everyday, as a rule. (A to Z being the exception...) I don't want to 'punish' someone for being busy, but I don't want to have such a long list, either. I know some have just the names, that would definitely shorten the list. I will have to see what the mighty Blogger has for different doohickey formatting.
Doohickeys is a very technical term for itemization. At least that sounds good, right?
Anyway, if any of my readers has an idea about cleanup of that section 'o the blog, I am quite happy for suggestions.
I also changed the face of my blog a bit. I was going to put a personal photo in the back, but Blogger says the photos I have are too big. Huh. I will have to see if I can lower the resolution on my camera, or use a different format on the photos, or something. Meanwhile, enjoy the pretty clouds, I guess...
So, as time wears on, maybe the blog will look a bit different, and I will have it cleaned up. But if it's like my craft room-

I just looked today...because I was curious all of a sudden...at exactly how many blogs I follow...
over a hundred! (That's probably not a lot to many people out there) but I didn't realize I followed so many!
Until I looked around a bit more and saw that at least a third either abandoned or "are resting" (which, not blogging in over a year is quite a "rest"...lol).
I don't really have any advise other than I personally did reach out to a few of the blogs that were lacking in activity for a year plus to see if all was alright. No response just yet but I guess that will be how I will determine my "list cleaning".

Hey, you've changed the furniture around. I like the new look! No suggestions for cleanup I'm afraid, I grapple with that too. (By "grapple with" I mean try to ignore...)

I don't even use the option to show all the blogs I follow. I have 3 blogs with very different genres and the sidebar list shows everything. I'm sure anyone who follows my weight loss blog most likely is not interested in horror movies or Halloween prop building. Ya see my issue?
I know you can edit the sidebar to only show the title of the blogs you follow, instead of the most recent posts, too. That would make it somewhat smaller.
You might put the blogs that publish more frequently to the top, and if it's been more than a year, just list them way at the bottom with a notation of how long it's been. Then, if they reactivate, you can move them back up.
The A-Z is going to be interesting, i'm glad you do it.
That's sort of the same issue with me, except I try and keep some of them private, as I don't particularly want debates on my blog. (Politics, religion, etc, is a personal thing, in my opinion, so I don't relish hashing it out with family and friends unless I've invited it... Meh.)
I might try the title thing, see how that works, at least it might shorten it somewhat... Then again, I probably will just keep it, and get rid of long term no writes.

Maybe. I think that Blogger sifts the most recent to the top, or perhaps I accidently set it up that way, but yes, perhaps that would work out, but I still might put a so many month limit on what's on the front page... (shrug)
