Summer is here!

The weather has been a little warmer than I like, but it's been okay.  Great for the plants and animals around the place, though, it seems...

I am finally getting some veggies picked from the garden, it always seems like it takes forever to get that first luscious picking...

An extremely, extremely rare picture of Buzz the Hyperactive Wonder Kitty... relaxing, and doing nothing!  She did roll once or twice, but just lazed and enjoyed the sunshine.

Rudee, on the other hand, is much more shady in his pursuits...

Longtail showing his better side.  He looks rather fearsome, but is really a rather laid back bird.

When I come to the fence to take photos, this is what happens.  The chickens all line up, much like cows do for milking, I guess.  They all want to find "the best spot" for potential treats.

Then the Blondies, after some time, they still don't quite know where or when to be.  They just wait until something looks like food, then run like ****...

My curious, nosy Dolly.  She spotted me by the fence with the camera and started to me, wanting to know if there was food.  And what I was doing. But mostly, food.

 The others, not so much.

So, that is how the place is doing.

I will be doing more volunteer work for Neighborhood Watch for the Sheriff's Office, I hope to jot a few things about that, as time goes on.  I am the 'sidekick', (I am NOT to use the word assistant), to the gent who volunteered for it.  As I get more proficient, I will be trading places with him.  This is sort of planned, as he has put lots of time into it, and would like to get some free time again.  I am familiar with the job, and other than some of the travel time, I find it sort of fun, and a good thing to help with, plus, this was the job that I think I mentioned, where I was recommended for by several of the deputies.
I am now being encouraged to get a smart phone.  I keep trying to reassure the pro-phone folks that my Day-Timer is just fine, and I need no smart (ahem!) phone.  I am still living in the 80's with my flip phone, and that is almost more than I want, on occasion.

So, will play catch up for a few days, then off to Crazytown volunteer work again! :D

So it is safe to say that most of the animals equate you to a grocery cart. I love how all the chickens lined up in a row. I have never seen chickens do that.

As for the volunteer work. Good for you!!! We should all find a cause to contribute to..me included.

Since I say that about several inanimate objects in my house, I guess it's a good thing I *don't* have kids!

He's a love. If I can just convince him not to try and hatch my foot...

I think a feed store would be about right, yes. And this group is the first I have seen do that, most of the chickens I've had bunch up in a group.

Yes, I just have to not be quite so... eager to volunteer all the time. No is important, too.

I am wondering what kind of work you will do in Neighbourhood Watch. I'm imagining patrolling around the neighbourhood? (good guess huh?)I expect I will find out.

No, if they wanted that, I would be a bit of a sorry pick. I help get meetings together, and explain how to protect your property and know your neighbor. And eat at potlucks...

Your chicken picture, where they're all lined up, makes me giggle. I love chickens... they're such bubbleheaded beauties!
