D is for Ding.

The cat that I would never have thought we'd have IN the house.  Husband is allergic.

So, I thought, that was that.

But he found an ad for a kitten. After a couple tries, we took her home. I named her Schrodinger.  No one but me seemed to remember that, and she liked playing will bells, so she became Ding.  This has lead to some not so quality nicknames, Ding a ling, Ding Dong, Ding Bat, Ding Ball... You get the idea.  She ignores all of them equally, so it's not a big deal.

She is a pretty laid back cat.  I think since she was raised with a Dachshund and a Golden Retriever, she is more oriented to "dog" than "cat".  Considering my husband has been known to come up to her and thump her on her back like you would a mastiff, this is probably a good thing!

She does have her cat moments, like the above, where she has figured out how to sit in just a way to maximize coverage of heater vents.  She also loves to bring us toy mice... In the bathroom, or in bed, at 2 in the morning...

But for never expecting to have an indoor cat again, it's been fun.  And husband is okay!  So it works out great for everyone.

Now if I could just teach her to clean her own litter box.

I think Ding is adorable. I am the ultimate cat lover and have ONE cat. Have to clarify that as many might be envisioning that I have 180 cats in my house with cat towers built up around me. It would be nice if they knew how to clean their litter boxes but I consider the fact I don't have to take them out for a walk a fair trade off.

I wouldn't mind having a cat but Mrs. Chatterbox is allergic. At least she claims to be allergic. Maybe I should come up with a test.

Ding is beautiful, and since she is probably at least part Siamese, and they are the dog of the cat world, it makes sense she would work out well in your house.

Ding is beautiful. I'm allergic, so no more cats for us. (No litter boxes either)

I love the words, 'cat moments'. They do have them, don't they. :)

Hahaha... quality nicknames. This post is fun! I've never been much of a cat lover, but having one in the house sounds interesting.

We thought our overly hyper lab would make having a cat impossible but eventually we just went for it. The dog adjusted within two days - I was amazed. The cat rules the house and the dog has accepted the hierarchy although he has serious jealousy if any of his people acknowledge the cat in any way. Cats (and dogs) are wonderful.
