1. I had made some silly knitting needles, using some chicken beads I had. I decided the chickens needed eyes. I searched several stores for the right size googly/wiggly eyes. I now know several stores carry them, but not small enough, unless I wanted to buy a set that would give me (not exaggerating) thousands of eyes!
Plan B.
I dug out some white beads, and Husband and I kicked around some ideas. He came up with one that had them set in, with a drilled hole. I thought that would look good, and protect the beads from getting knocked off. He took the things, and I trotted off to caregiving.
I came home to chickens with eyes and he even made a neat little center with a twisted wire!
2. Ding kitty has decided I need to pay more attention to her. If she thinks I have been on the phone too long, scrolling and such, she very gently, puts a paw on one corner, and pats it. It doesn't hurt anything, and gets my attention on more important things! ; )
3. We have a view of the neighbors woodlot, and it's getting cool enough now, that we are seeing the colors change in-between the firs.
4. I had my day off on Friday. Thursday night, I was reading a book, and I decided to read until I finished it. I haven't done that in awhile, and it was nice to finish in one sitting.
5. I *think* I have mowed the garden lawn for the last time this season. It is very tinkery, so I am VERY thankful for that!
6. Finally figured out why I couldn't put pictures on my blog. I hadn't updated some important whatsit on my phone.
Technology. Yay...
But as you see above, I can do pictures again!
7. I needed to get several shots. I was concerned, the person who showed up to give them, did NOT do well the last time I needed some. I was very pleasantly surprised, he gave me the shots, and I barely noticed them, this time. Whew!
8. I have been having some concerns, and I am so incredibly, extremely, absolutely thankful that I have friends who not only will listen, they check in on me, and make sure I'm okay.
9. I have been losing weight, and I'm much more comfortable in my clothes! Having gaps because things are loose, is much better than gaps because of being too tight!
10. Husband and I have been working out how to deal with more or less taking care of two houses and my parents. While it is NOT easy, it is working, and we have developed something of a system, that seems to keep everything more or less organized and do-able. For that, I most certainly am thankful!
Thank you for reading!

Great looking chickens guarding the knitting! I like the joy of completing one book in a single sitting too. Have a good week ahead.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely list — the chicken knitting needles made me smile, especially coming home to find your husband had given them eyes with that twisted wire centre, and Ding kitty gently patting your phone is just adorable. It reminded me of the simple, kind-hearted conversations we enjoy over at oncbrothers, and I am so glad your pictures are working again and that the colours are turning in the neighbours' woodlot.
ReplyDeleteThose chickens look cute 🥺
ReplyDeleteA great list of thankful! I'm so glad that you have supportive friends. Have a wonderful weekend ☺️
ReplyDeleteThose red chickens look great!
ReplyDeleteYou and your husband did a great job with the chickens.
ReplyDeleteI’m thankful you are getting your Fridays and you’ve worked out parental care. My brother and I have been doing it with my parents, and because he’s living there, he has taken on more of it than I have. It’s not easy.
very cool to have regained the ability to post photos to ....err Posts! (lol) I totally enjoy seeing as much as reading (descriptions) Identify with Grat #3 we have a mix of pines and deciduous and so in fall we see our neighbors backyard more clearly. good to vary the view.
ReplyDeleteGreat list of grats - kudos to husband for chicken eyes 👍
