So, how much longer?

I have been knitting a baby blanket.  It is a large one.
And knitting.
And knitting.
Aaaaand knitting.
Still knitting.

While I enjoy knitting, this thing is something that I find strange.  I knit blankets, and it seems like I start, it's fine for about 15 inches or so.  Not a problem.

Then I measure, usually when I think I must have added another 5 inches to that.

15 and 1/4.

Really??

So, I buckle down and knit. Don't move for what seems like hours.  I half expect my fingers to bleed, and my eyeballs to dry to dust...

Measure...

17 inches.

AIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGH!!!  (ahem)

So, I am about up to 36 inches at this point, the sides were larger than I want, (47 inches).

BUT, the blanket, I have decided, will not be square.  I don't want to knit 11 more inches, in fact, I don't know if I've enough yarn.  I will continue knitting for a bit, then finish, bind off, and deal with the small hole that occured...

3 $@@@ inches from the start!!!!  Which, of course, I didn't catch...

Can baby blankets be malevolent?  (shudder)

Oh my! Sorry about that, it sounds like something I would have go wrong. (And the yarn is never as easy to work with the second time around)

I admire people who make things and obviously baby blankets are harder to make than I'd imagined.

The baby will love it, and so will the mama, and the love (and angst) you put into it will be much appreciated.

Well, at least I caught it, so I don't have a 'ladder' running up the blanket...

Probably more so, when you are nearing the end and find patience to be a problem... :/

I hope so, it's for a... nth cousin... I can't really remember how many removed, but I know that she's a cousin. (I think.) Our family has so many shirt tales that we should have our own clothing store...

Um. Tails. NOT tales. Though, that probably is true, too...
