So, I have been trying to write with my phone on the blog, mostly so I could put up some pictures, too... But, unless I would get up at oh, 2 a.m., I can't get the bandwidth to load pictures... I managed one, the rest have said "upload unsuccessful, try again." And after a LOT of tries, I just called it a bad job and gave up.
So, now that I am back from Christmas break, and I can use the sub's computer, I will write them here again, and see, from time to time if I can upload pictures and blogs from the phone, or from my computer, if I get it set up again... Meh...
New Year sort of made me think about the whole resolution thing... I still don't know if I am calling it that, I am thinking more in the term of a short term goal, I guess. I ended up deciding to write a journal daily. I would then write things like if I had exercised, what knitting projects I was doing/finished, what things had happened during the day, that sort of thing. I also write down what I ate during the day. That is monotonous, but I have been told you tend to eat less if you see it written down. (One friend, who doesn't like to write, said she lost weight because she wouldn't eat things, as she didn't want to record it!)
I did say short term goal. I figure, do this steady for a month, and see, is it helping? Do I like doing it? Do I need to make changes? This seems a bit more achievable to me than the "THOU SHALT DO THIS FOR 12 MONTHS UNCHANGED... "
The journal part is a memory prod, too. I had someone ask about some things that happened last year... I am slightly embarrassed to say, I had to think long and hard to remember. I am hoping if I write things down, I might have better recall. I generally do... In fact, a standing joke about writing things in our family, we make lists. And "if it's not on the list, it don't exist..." Well, I guess this way, more of my year will exist? :) One of my grandmas used to write on a square of a calendar what she did each day, but my writing is much too... all over the place, to fit well in the small square of a calendar... And as much stuff and nonsense as I am putting on the journal page, I think this will work a LOT better for me. Plus, if I want to blow off steam, write poetry, bad or otherwise, draw, what have you, I will have space for that, too...
So, we shall see what 2020 bringeth. Bringeth it on?
It's a smart idea, and committing to a month to see how you like it and if it serves you is just right.
ReplyDeleteWell, I think I am going the right way, I can have a better handle on if I am going to do it, and if I *WANT* to do it!
