10 thankfuls, some pics.

 1. I managed to get a picture on the ride home with Dad, thought it came out rather well.

2. Husband took me for a surprise day trip.

We haven't been out for a while, just really busy with things. He decided that we would play hooky for the day, and see what the coast was up to.

It was coastal...  ; )

3. Managed to get most all of the tomatoes picked before it rained. Basically 3 5 gallon buckets of tomatoes, some ripe, some green. Lots of processing to do! Not complaining, but I believe next year, maybe I won't plant 17 tomato plants... !

4. Gave a blood donation, and was chatting with the phlebotomist. They have a donation called power red. It is much more concentrated, and can do more. That being said, I had some real problems when I did that before. She made several suggestions, in case I wanted to try again. I might do so. It's something important to me, so if they can give me tips to make it easier, well, it's worth a try! And, she did my donation with our my getting a bruise. I nearly always bruise. This time, one little stick point, that's it. Yay!!

5. I am thankful for having a goofy spirit. I pulled out one of my "Halloween" knitting bags, it is a black cat. The other is a (green?) jack-o'-lantern, I use that the week of Halloween. I am thinking about making a turkey shaped one, but I have a chicken Viking hat that I might repurpose.

Chicken Viking Hat

I have several turkey feathers that the 'locals' have shed, and I could just sew one one on the tail area.

6. I have been doing shopping for my parents. I didn't think anything of it one way or another. Mom was chatting with someone and commented that she really didn't like shopping, so it was nice I could do it. And I am VERY thankful I can!

7. We have had rain for a few days, off and on, and a bit more soon. The fire danger is down to low, and boy, am I ever thankful for that!

8. I was having trouble with a pattern I was working on. Couldn't parse out why, but it looked crowded, messy, and generally looked terrible. I finally set it aside. I decided to use a different combination of yarns. And it took off like a rocket! I think the yarn I was using was too large for the pattern, I found a smaller size, and it just clicked. I am hoping to make a table runner for Christmas with it, so having it work helps a lot!

9. It's cooling off here. That means pumpkin spice everything for some people, but for me, it means I can go back to wearing my hand knit wool socks! I am thankful sheep make wool!

10. Husband shared a film he liked with me. I enjoyed it, too. I am very thankful we have similar tastes.

Enjoy your thankfuls this week!

  1. All those tomatoes! If we were near, I'd take several to feed my granddaughter, she eats them faster than we can cut them up for her.

I'm glad your fire danger is down and your socks are back and pray you have a fabulous week.

  3. So many nice thoughts that resonate with me. I love that my husband likes grocery shopping. He does come home with a lot of extras, however! I try to donate blood every time I'm eligible. I've only had one experience where I thought I might faint afterwards. I actually made 1 1/2 pairs of socks. I did make the 2nd sock, but it was so much shorter than the first...I threw them away. I save my socks for cold nights in bed. I don't want to wear them out!
