A new neighbor...

We put up a bird feeder by our front window, both for our entertainment, and for Ding's.  She loves watching the birds, especially hummingbirds.

I happened to be over at my parents, I had gone on a grocery run, so I missed this. Fortune smiled, and Husband caught it. Ding was fascinated by the squirrel, and Husband said it wasn't scared of her, even when she pawed the window.

Hasn't been back, though...

Can't I go out to play?

Squirrels are smart little rodents and know that there is a window between him and the cat. They are also fun to watch.

Yes, the little guy didn't give up his spot until Husband started to open the window to shoo him away. I don't know if it would do anything to the feeder, but he was just concerned it would be knocked down. But yes, they are very fun to watch!

I used to have that give and take between bird feed and squirrels. I finally gave up and bought peanuts for the squirrels. they have to eat too. I had fat squirrels!!

I had one, some time ago, that would year up the bird feeder and run off the birds. Husband waxed the pole, and we had the most fun watching its frustration trying to climb. It didn't do as much damage after that. I think it was exhausted from all the effort! If they aren't obnoxious, I don't mind the squirrels. We have oak trees, so they generally have enough to eat...

Once the squirrel knows you are feeding sugar water and not seed or something else, it will probably not bother again.

Great catch by your husband!

Messymimi: actually, we are feeding seed up top, I think it might have been what attracted it. But as long as he doesn't knock down the feeder, I am not terribly worried. Still would like it to be BIRD food, however...
