Since I gave it to Mom, I can share...
Mom had said she'd never had a gingerbread house before. So, having made a few of them, I decided she she would have one this year. Bought the decorations, checked the spices, cleared the kitchen, and went for it.
I had planned on a slightly larger house, but the dough I made was somewhat less... Sturdy than I wanted. So with some construction help from Husband, (he who can actually cut a straight line, and can size things up and down without 3 hours, pen a pencil, and a calculator with fresh batteries), we made it more or less half size. I decided it needed some people, and I put the wreath in... Because I wanted to.
I was all ready to put it aside for Christmas, when Husband pointed out that Christmas was about 2 weeks away. Might be a bit stale?
Oh. Right. Urk...
So, today, the day AFTER national gingerbread house day, we took it to her. Husband drove verrrrry carefully on the way, so we wouldn't end up with crashed house.
She got a big kick out of it, and from what I understand, it is being eaten happily.
The front of the house, Husband named the folks Ginger and Mary Ann...
The back of the house, it says Mom's house, but the icing was not cooperating much...
So, she now has (temporarily), a gingerbread house.
And don't worry, Dad, you will be getting a gingerbread doohickey later.
:)

What fun! Our one attempt at such a house didn't work, but since the point for the kids was the eating, we enjoyed it anyway.
