Tried to go in and see the person about volunteering to knit things for the hospital. Dad was already there because of a class he takes.
Well...
First, talked to the gal I knew, who had been the head of volunteering. Before I could say much, she directed me to the volunteer room.
There was a herd of volunteers, and one asked me what I wanted. I told her I wanted to volunteer to knit. The gal said, oh that's GalPerson, there she is. And GalPerson rushed by the door and said, No I'm not, leaving right now!
So the one then said I could take a chair and wait.
How long, I ask.
No idea, she said.
At that point, I turned to Dad, shake my head, and say I'm hungry, let's go. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't seem to convince anyone to talk to me. So I am going to call the hospital and make a darn appointment with someone! You wouldn't think giving away stuff would be so complicated!
But on the bright side, Dad and I went out to lunch, had a long leisurely talk, and full tummies. That well made up for it.
Wish me good luck on talking to someone without needing to staple toes to the floor!

It's astounding how they ask for help them don't make time for those who do come to help. Then again, they are all volunteers, too, and might have limited time.
I pray you get to talk to someone.
