Quiet day, and a book.

It rained here, not hard rain, but pronounced, and steady. Husband and I had been going like thunder to get things finished before the rain.

We did. And we decided to take the day off, and just relax. We left the doors open so we could hear the rain, and read. I did a couple minor chores, but spent the day reading a book. Husband read, as well. I made him a dinner he likes a lot, and I finished the book.

So, I guess I have my book for June finished! I will read some more, it just sounded like an good one. With no magic, witches, or talking pets...

Snort.

It's "Whiskey Sour". A story about a female lieutenant, who works in Violent Crimes. She is dealing with a breakup with a casual boyfriend, a vicious murderer who leaves gingerbread cookies at the scene, FBI agents that sound like they missed their calling as accountant clones, and several others that only add to the story.

I give it a Very Good. It was at turns funny, scary, spooky, and intense.  And this was not a cozy mystery, there was much not nice, from the murders themselves, to what happened during same, to the lieutenant being stalked by the murderer.

I don't think it would be great before bed reading, but it was good, and had some very funny parts, as well.  I am going to have to look at getting some more books in the series. Seeing how intense it is, it will be a once in a while book, not a binge read. I want to sleep occasionally!

Hey, I'm Ann from A Nice Place In The Sun. I like the way you write. Have you ever read any of Sue Grafton's books? The titles go by the alphabet. For example, "A Is for Alibi," "B is for Burglary," etc...

You are probably familiar with her, but I like mysteries too, so I thought I would mention her novels.

You know, my Mom has those. I think I might have read one, maybe I should ask if she still has them. She's the mystery woman around here!
