I was busy, took the plastic cover off my one raised bed, and put down newspaper. Husband brought me over a load of mulch, which is now ensconced atop. I will have to put more on later, but it's a good start.
I then took the plastic and two tarps, covered my little patio, so it won't grow grass and weeds during the winter. Big rocks I'd dug up, and some bricks will hopefully keep them from flying away... :/
I had a batch of tomatoes ready to store, but I decided to make dinner, instead. There was a lot of tomatoes, so I brought the crockpot bowl over. I blanched the lot, then started peeling, chopping and dumping in. Added black beans, green beans, corn, mushrooms, and some soup starter that is Husband's favorite. Crocked for 3 hours, then added pasta. Another hour, ta daaa, soup. I had made oatmeal bread to go with it.
I made a LOT of soup, and so shared half a loaf and about half the soup with my parents. Every one seems to like it, and the chickens were happy with the peels. And I have dinner for the next day!
So, the garden is getting bedded down, slowly, and I will have some summer during the winter.
Works out well, I think!

It certainly sounds as if it worked well and deliciously.
Very nicely, and with the fresh tomatoes, it seems to keep the flavor well!
