1. Late-ish, because Husband's brother and wife came out to see family and friends, and a good group of us went to a pizza house, and had dinner and chat session. I would normally write my blog the evening before. The pizza thing was spur of the moment, so I didn't get it taken care of.
2. And late-ish today, because I went to a fiber festival. Surprisingly, I only bought one skein of yarn! I did get a book on pine basket making, (we have several pine trees, and I thought it might be fun), a tie dye t shirt, some bags, and...
This..
It was just so cute, perfectly apropos for she who has numerous socks going... And it even fits over my hat, so I was deemed baaaa-d a$$ by the maker, who asked to take a picture. I amused a couple of people saying it was just too baaaa-d I had to head home (detect a theme?), and stopped to show my parents my now dubbed "lamb ears".
It's fun to make people laugh.
3. Some of my seeds are finally, but finally making an appearance. I have some cucumbers that are about pinky high, carrots that are a tiny bit taller, and lettuce that have leaves about the size of a half dollar. And some bush beans I didn't know if would grow at all, are pushing out some starts.
Astoundingly, no zucchini. Thought I could grow that with half a seed, buried in concrete!
Maybe not so much. ; )
4. Found "homes" for the last of my radishes. They turned out to be a lot hotter than I like, and family was getting radished out. Offered to a friend who was going on a short trip. She came over, and I warned her, these are called firecracker, and they are super spicy hot.
Turns out, she loves spicy food! She, and the friend with her, took the whole bunch! (I had trimmed and washed them, so they were ready to eat.)
5. Mom gave me Grandma's coin purse. I really didn't need it as a coin purse, but decided to use it, anyway. It was large enough to hold my stork embroidery scissors on one side, and the other holds some blunt needles, stitch markers, and some safety pins. A quick kit for knitting!
6. I am greatful my indoor plants are forgiving, I hadn't watered them for about a month, and none of them died... !!
7. Husband helped me put up my bean pole. That thing is two t posts upright, with cross pieces of two MORE t posts. I suspect that a whole BUNCH of beans couldn't pull it down if they came on all at once!
8. Ding is thrilled with her mice from under the stove, and serenades us of an evening, bringing us toy mouse presents. "Let me sing you the song of my people."
9. We are getting goldfinches, and red headed birds that I can't remember the name of. And when I see an Indigo Bunting, I know summer is here in full.
10. Maybe one of the most important thankfuls this week, Husband dug up some soil, and put it in my garden. Not on the garden, but in a bunch of holes and swales created by voles. They were becoming a trip hazard. They are now much easier walking!
Good week to all!
