Summer rain thankfuls.

1. We had rain on the first day of summer. 

Yay! 

Why yay? Because we've had no rain, lots of wind and warm, and the fire season showed up early. 

So, rain, yes!!

2. I was watering the garden a few days ago, and a hummingbird flew right up to the spray of the hose. It washed itself, flying in, then flinging the water off, then wetting up again. I had never seen these little guys do that, and I was able to see it not more than a foot or two away! 

3. We had a skunk visit. Not a thankful that morning, the vents in our house let us have the full benefit of the odor. Husband decided to go work on a project, while I aired out the house. He was gone long enough, I made cookies, which he thought was a MUCH better smell than skunk! And a nice surprise...

4. I was digging out some clothes in storage, and found a shirt I really like. It's like having new clothes, sort of. :)

5. I noticed my indoor plants were looking droopy. I have taken to writing the date I water down. Checked, and sure enough, I hadn't watered for, uh, much too long. Good healthy drink, and they are looking happy again. 

6. Twice now, I have diverted a problem by checking. I was going to get a begonia for the house. Is it toxic for cats? YES. Since I have a nibbler, this is a no go. Had some powdered sugar, made it up for hummingbird food. Hmm, came out cloudy, that's odd. So I checked, powdered sugar for hummingbirds. NO! Turns out, they add cornstarch and such to it to keep it from caking, and it isn't good for them. Pour that out, get regular sugar. Whew!

7. I needed a stitch marker for my sock knitting. I had a keyhole shaped safety pin, and I added a couple jingle bells. Looks pretty, adds a little jingle to my work, and it's not a common stitch marker, so less easily lost.

8. Had some visitors today. As long as they stay out of the garden, they are welcome.

There were 2 fawns, couldn't get the other on the photo. 

9. I have been thinking about camping. Is it just me, or is think and planning sometimes as much fun as actually doing something? Have to wait a bit, as I will have family visiting, but will figure something out after.

10. Was able to watch a podcast of Boss Kitty, a yarn dyer I enjoy. Just nearly by accident, I was checking on another thing entirely, and it popped up. It was on a day she isn't normally on, so I would have missed it otherwise.
