1. Woke up and was going to get a jump start on my garden. Husband had taken off to get some fuel and had left. I went to brush my teeth. Turned the water on, and was utterly, completely doused with a geyser of water. The cold water handle broke off. Thankfully, it didn't hit me in the face. Turns out the part was plastic, and had deteriorated...
2. Thankfully, after getting enough towels over the fountain, it ran, mostly, into the sink. More or less. I was then able to get to the pump house, where I could turn the water to the house off. I am also happy the neighbors weren't around, because I had so much water in my pants, I had to hold them up to keep from losing them!
3. Oddly, I had been thinking about cleaning the bathroom, it was looking a bit dusty. Well, a begrudging thankful, all the water, cleaning up, and throwing out things that were wrecked... My bathroom is VERY clean, and I have more space in the drawers by the sink (the water got in there, paper products were a goner, among other things).
4. I am also thankful Husband showed me the shut off valve UNDER the sink. I honestly didn't know about that one, so if (Heaven Forfend!!!), this happens again, I don't have to do a 50 yard dash outside to shut things off! But he was pleased I had been able to get it stopped.
5. Husband had a thankful of his own, he said he was glad we were home. It could have been a big disaster, to the point of remodeling or some such, which would be time and money consuming, as well as dealing with insurance.
6. I now have a new spigot, that is all metal, and hopefully will last a looooong time. I am thankful we had the resources, time, and ability to take care of it.
7. I am thankful that I finally have all 17 tomato plants in. I really appreciate my teacher being generous with replacing the 2 I managed to toast in the greenhouse... But a replacement of 9 was making for some creative planting this season!
8. Knee is still holding up well. Makes it SO much easier to do the garden, get shopping done, vacuum... You know, things where you have to walk.
9. I have been able to get my garden care finished before it gets very warm. This will be an even more important thankful, as we are going to have very hot (for here) weather for several days, and I don't do hot well.
10. I am very thankful that I can sort of laugh about the craziness this week, and that hopefully it's a fun read for you!
Quack quack!
Have a great week, stay dry, and enjoy!

It's a hypo-grat, you aren't grateful the doggone thing broke, you are thankful at least you got a clean bathroom out of it.
If you end up drowning in tomatoes next, well, let's just say I wish I lived closer, I'd be glad to help with the problem.
What an eventful week you've had! I'm glad that everything in the end turned out okay.
such a start to the day!
plumbing and electricity are the two areas (of home repair) I am not anywhere near tempted to try myself...
knowing the location of shutoffs is a good thing
agree with Mimi (one of the coolest things about this grat blog is that hypograts are recognized as legit items for a TToT list)
I'm one of those find-the-silver-lining people, so I totally relate to you being grateful that the flood allowed for some house cleaning!
Wow! I like me a shower in the morning, but that's taking things a bit far. I prefer mine with the water contained, and warm. Congrats on the tomatoes - I started several in the house and I think none of them are going to make it - after planting outside they haven't grown at all in a month. Ok back to work for me. Have a wonderful day! - Pat
