Garden Thankfuls

 Linky bits

1.

My new holly hock. So far no rust problems!
Almost 3 feet tall, and lots of buds.

2.

The tomatoes are starting to come in bit by bit. The bean is my first one. I picked it to see if it was stringy. (It wasn't). Also, so I didn't want a bean that was big and seedy.

3.
Picked lots of blackberries, juiced same, and have that in the freezer to make jelly later.

4. Been able to keep most of my plants going during the hot weather.

5. Most of the tomatoes have recovered from the deer buffet line. In fact, several have grown back around the eaten parts. Even some flowers!

6. Watering the trees takes a little bit, so I have been reading a history book, about Eleanor Roosevelt. It's from articles she wrote.

7. I am getting several UFO vegs, they are good. Tried to dry some seeds, but I think they are too young. Might have to let them get a bit bigger.

8. I accidentally mowed one of my hydrangea (it was small and hard to see). It now has a flag marking it, and it too, has grown a bit. (Whew!)

9. Lots of flowers on my cucumbers, so the folks that requested them should be happy soon!

10. It's a slow process, but my garden is doing well, and I think eventually, it will be really nice. But, you know, it's really nice to me right now!

Have yourself a grand week, and take care. :)

Your garden sounds wonderful to me and I hope the hydrangea recovers.

The tomatoes and bean look good. I wonder how the UFO vegetables got planted.

I love the challenge you participate in, and it's always healthy to elaborate on things we are thankful for!

excellent sounding State of the Garden this week. It makes me think that, maybe next year I should try one more time to get all agrarian on our backyard.
the driveway corn is still trying to grow, but I suspect the trip down the driveway set them too far back in the growage season
have a good week

Our "garden" is a cobbled yard so everything is in containers and the only edible thing in it is a rhubarb I grew on from a fragment that broke off when pulling some rhubarb and I took it off and grew it on - next year I might get some fruit off it! Nice to read your account of your garden activities...

I thought I commented, but didn't see it...do you have to approve them? Just curious. I adored my hollyhocks - they were very prolific and I ended up with stands of hollyhocks down at my barn and in most of my flower beds! All came from 3 or 4 seedlings I dug out of my neighbor's window well (with his permission!)

I planted a hollyhock this year for the first time. It's a shorter variety, though. I've been pleased with how long the blooming season is.
