1. Husband and I went to my parents house to help with some cleaning upstairs. Husband realized that part of the wall didn't look right, and upon closer inspection, figured out there was a leak, and the wall was a mess. Thankfully, we caught it. (Mom and Dad use the area for storage, and don't get up there much.) And even more thankful that Husband could clean up, and repair the mess! I did a little, too, but mostly Husband.
2. I was getting... Bored? Tired? Of soup and dried or frozen tomatoes. I found a recipe for spaghetti sauce. Sounds good, let's try it. So, instead of cooking it on the stove, I put it in the crockpot.
Uh, oh.
One of the things that makes the sauce, is the water cooking off. The lid wouldn't allow that. We started digging around to find something to use, because I had a screen, but had given it away, inadvertently. Husband pulled out my colander, and stuck it over the top. It works great, no tomato over spray, and it cooks down nicely. The combination looks like a cross between a moon rover and R2D2, but it works!
3. It is officially sock season for me. I washed several pair, then started sorting through all of them. I have enough pairs to probably go a month with out repeating a pair. And if I include "onesies", single socks that I just pair with whichever other onesie is handy, it could be closer to a month and a half... ! (And no, you may not look at my darning pile, cough.)
4. I am thankful Ding kitten doesn't have thumbs. She's figured out how to open a door on one of the end tables. She likes to go in and sit. Problem is, we have to check that the door is CLOSED when walking around, so an ankle or shin doesn't get thumped. Which gives Ding another chance to open the door! She doesn't seem inclined to shut it when she leaves... :/
5. I am thankful for leaves and grass clippings. I tested both for my mulch in the garden this year, both worked well, except I need to cover the grass clippings a bit better. The end of the year, my one bed needed a bit of a haircut! Well, I have all sorts of mulch, the front field was mowed down from about knee high grass to about an inch or so. The clippings are about 3-4 feet high in a pile on either side of the field, and at least that wide. And guess who will be getting new mini beds??? :)
6. I am thankful for the clouds. I love this time of year, the sky is incredibly expressive, and the clouds get a chance to show off a little.
7. I have had no less than 3 people comment on how I walk recently. Not really malicious, but I was more than a little surprised. I finally asked Husband if I walk funny. He thought about it, and said I have a very distinct gait, after all the problems I have had. (So, yes.) But, after all the mess my legs have been through, I am absolutely joyfully thankful that I *can* walk!
8. I have been very busy, but I feel pretty good. I think the exercises help a lot. That has been a BIG thankful, since this is a part of the year with lots of "stuff" going on.
9. I am thankful for learning to say no. I have been invited to be part of a couple projects with online friends. I realized I would be fitting in the project, and really had no great use for the result, except maybe as a donation. So. Thank you so much, but not this one. (Whew!!!)
10. My terrariums are doing well, even the ones that I planted, THEN found out the plants were not really meant to be indoors. Well, so far, so good, they seem fine, so in they stay!
A grand and thankful week to all!
