1. Had a friend visit, she wanted to give me some items she was afraid to mail (somewhat fragile glass), and we made the better part of the day of it. I was also able to give her some items that I thought she might be able to use, so I like to think it was useful for both of us!
2. I have dried, I have sauced, I have frozen, I have souped tomatoes! I am happy to say one of the things my friend took home was a fair amount of them! She had a lunch of them, too. While I want to have a good stock up for winter, my freezer is full, and I am getting rather tired of dealing with tomatoes. So. I am down to about a 5 gallon bucket or so left.
If I ignore the stupid tomatoes that are coming in my garden. (We had a frost, I think it invigorated them!) I plan to call a couple food banks and see if they will accept them.
3. The local turkeys are back, and except for one brain damaged Tom, that keeps fighting his reflection in the bumper of my husband's truck, they are kind of fun to watch, and seem to be doing well. I think the good year we've had for acorns has helped.
4. Which leads to my thankful for nature's comedy show. We have several squirrels who grab acorns, scurry down to the ground, dig frantically, and bury said acorn. Later, the turkeys come by, dig around in the freshly turned earth, and have acorns for lunch!
5. I finished a garland for my Christmas tree. I am taking a break, I want to make some more, but it is a loooooong, repeating process, so a different project is inserted, for a while.
6. I chose to be thankful I'm not in a hurry about my table runner. I have started and restarted that at least 3 times, with different yarn combinations. I finally pulled the whole thing out, rewound the yarn, and decided to use one strand of very light yarn (don't have the label, but I believe it is near lace weight), and ditched the pattern, it was tedious and hard for me to do for any length of time. I decided the runner will be knit, with a purl edge, and kept rather simple, allowing me to finish it (maybe) quickly , possibly before Christmas.
Maybe.
7. I had a birthday dinner, on my birthday, several months ago. We saved part of it. Yesterday, I had a belated birthday dinner? Anywho, we finished it up, and as far as I was concerned, it was just as good!
8. I made time to ride my trike. I have been busy, and just didn't make time. I had forgotten how much fun it is. And the 4 very noisy dogs on the route I took. Just noise, not harmful, fortunately.
9. Cooler weather, and I am thankful for hot tea, and homemade cocoa!
10. And I am thankful that Ding finds me a very warm, and accommodating, cat bed. I get my blanket on my legs, and soon she's sleeping quietly. I get extra petting time, she gets warm snuggly spot, win-win!
So, enjoy your week, and keep thinking thankfully!
