(This has put me in a rather foul mood, so this is a bit more PG-13, or so, rant than usual.)
As most of you know, I am a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers fan. The group is going on tour, I believe, next week, or so. Well, some scum-sucking asshat has stolen guitars from them. While this is not a tour ender, it just infuriates me that people do that.
One of the guys at the Sheriff's Office said while Toby Keith was here on tour a while ago, someone stole HIS guitar. Portable item? The idea that it can be sold quickly? Mentally deficient fan???
And... they stole from ALL the guitar players in the group! Guess it's a good thing that pianos and drums aren't as portable, or the would probably have snitched that, too! Brain dead idiots.
Now, I realize that Tom and Co. have money, and can probably come up with new guitars... (In fact, I believe that Tom Petty has something like 150+ guitars in his collection alone.) That is so NOT the point!
I have lots of knitting needles, but I have some that I adore, use most of the time, and they have a certain "feel" to them, and I would be ready to tear someone the proverbial new one if they went missing by theft. And something tells me these guitars are worth a bit more than some steel double pointed Susan Bates...
I don't know why thievery makes me so furious, but I guess I look at it that someone works, obtains something, and that generally means it is important to them. So when it's stolen, you are taking a chunk of what's important to that person...
The group has made it clear that there would be $7500 to the person that returns them, no questions asked. However, from what I have been reading, if the fans find out who it is, they might have much less time as a healthy human being... With certain parts of the anatomy being removed, in the most painful manner that can be thought of. Let's just say, I think that Petty fans sound rather blood-thirsty at the moment.
