Best laid plans...

When I was just starting school, Mom had me lay out what I was going to wear, and what I needed to take to school the night before.  It worked very well, with the exception of when I forgot to tell her I needed something.

Ahem. Oops.

It has been a habit that I have continued. (Both the laying things out, and sometimes the forgetting.)  But I am beginning to wonder if I need to put a fridge in the car.

Seriously.

I go to work on Tuesday, and I put out the stuff to take to Mom.  I put my clothes out, to change, once I finish feeding.  I have all the foodstuffs for a snack space at the sub.

Hat, vest, purse...

Oop, need to make lunch.  Which, I put mayo on.  Well, don't need to leave for a bit yet, so I better keep this in the fridge...

This happens nearly every time I make a lunch with a perishable!  I get half way to town...

Click...

Oh... Crap.

Now, most days I do bring 'emergency money', but that isn't the point.  I really need to get some way to have the things in the fridge, unlike Vegas, not STAY in the fridge when I leave.  This occasionally happens with eggs that a gal orders, who lives in town.

Now, I put up a note for the eggs, but have occasionally forgotten them still.  I have had people tell me that I need to put a string on my finger, rubber band on my wrist, etc., to remind me.

Nope, I remember it's there, oh, when it catches on something at work... Sigh.

I know I can do this, it's not rocket science, (or rocket surgery, as I read on a t-shirt recently), but if I remember one thing, I seem to forget something else...

I am highly tempted to store apples, and granola bars at the sub.

If they didn't get eaten... By someone who is not me.

Meh.  I think a brain cell or three are in the back of my brain, just waiting to see if I remember, then when it's too late/far to go back, they spring the trap.

Darn cells, anyway.  Maybe a pre "flight" checklist.

If I don't misplace the list...

Hmph. Stupid Passwords...

Can I say I wish I had photographic memory for passwords?

I wanted to blog last Tuesday, and so I zipped onto the computer, and then...

PLEASE ENTER PASSWORD.

Uh.  Ok, Lessee. It's in my password book.  Which is in my purse. Hmm.

Or my carry bag...

My coat?

Maybe it's in the back seat of the... Oh, crud... I left it at the house, on the table.  I had put it NEXT to my purse, but not IN it.  Ergo, when I left, it sat quietly, not letting me know I was leaving it.  Unlike Ding, who meows and tries desperately to follow me out the door, and if that isn't possible, she tries to leave enough fur on my pant legs to let me know she's fluffy, for several hours after...

(I have images of the Sherlock episode where he's analyzing a gent, and figures out he has a dog.  No, 2 dogs... I keep thinking he'd figure out I had a cat, chickens, and frequently walk in mud...  However, he might think I raise sheep and goats, or pack rope, just as easily, with all my spinning fiber...)

So, I didn't get to blog this last week.  We have had a doozy of rain here, even for Oregon...  And I think everyone and their dog, and their dog's dog, must have been streaming movies.  We could just NOT get on line much.  So, I made a POINT of putting the password book in the purse...

And yes, it's probably not the best method of keeping the things straight, but until they can make it so I don't have so many passwords, that are supposed to be random combinations of digits, numbers, and symbols, and they can't be less than six long, yada yada yada... I have to be able to remember the doofy things somehow!  So, I will do up a few for this week.

Since I can get in, today.  I keep thinking of the bit I saw about photographic memory.  I have it, but I just don't have film in the camera... :)

Definitely a pair...

But they definitely do not match.  This is a line from a sock book I read.  I didn't realize how prescient it would be.

Some time ago I had knit up a sock, and then put it away for some reason.  It was very simple.  A blue edge line, brown sock, with a blue heel and toe.

Why I put it up, I don't recall, which tells you how long ago it was.  I happened to be digging about for some oddball thing, and found the unfinished SECOND sock.  I still had the first one packed safely away.  (And, amazingly, I knew where it was!)

So, I decided, I should finish this sock.  I have one, finish the other, yet a new pair for my feet...  Then I made a mistake.  I did not go look at the first sock.  It was a simple blue and brown sock, I could knit from memory... I remembered that I was out of the blue yarn, so I substituted a blue that was as close as I could get.  It doesn't match completely, but it's not bad.

Then when I finished, I dug out the first sock.

Oh.  Oh!  Uh, oh...

So, note to self: do not attempt to knit second sock from memory of stored sock.  Fortune would have it, I have lots of socks I make one of, I refer to them as 'Sock Onesies', so these will fit right in...

But I still think the next time I'd better check.

(I would have had this blog up on Sunday, but I was having trouble uploading the picture.  Odd...)
