Read a good movie lately?

I went to a big chain bookstore, (Husband and I can't remember which one, sadly, it is no more), and they had this section I would always look at while I was there.

"Read a Good Movie Lately?"

And they would have the latest movies out, either from the book it was based on, or a book, written from the movie.   I would usually pick up at least one or two, especially if it was sci-fi.

I really missed that.

I happened to be at a book sale we frequent, and they had "The Revenant".  I picked it up, and it started me thinking... I know there are lots of movies based on books... Why not just catch them as I find them?  I have even started a little section of my library, where the "book to movie section" is.  I have the more obvious, like the Hobbit, some newer, like Gone Girl, and Girl with a Pearl Earring.  Some classics, To Kill A Mockingbird, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn...

I might read all of them, might find I have no interest, and go to the next book... And eventually, I might see the movie, too...

The odd thing, I just finished The Revenant.  It was quite good, if more than a bit gorey.  But, as I have noticed, the book and movie differ.

I haven't seen the movie.  So, how do I know?

Husband told me he'd seen the movie, one time while I was off and away.  So I chatted with him about the book, and said, oh, it was awful that his rifle was stolen, and Husband said, yes, and losing his son...

His son?  I looked blank.

Yes, Husband says, his son Hawk.

Uh.  No... No children in the book.

Oh, Hawk is an adult child.

Uh, no, Husband, there was no adult child, no child child, and no Hawk...

Now I really want to see the movie, to see what he's talking about!!!

Time. Zoooooom, there it goes!

I thought it had been about 4 days since my last blog.  Ahem.

Not.

So, Just to let you know that I am among the land of the living...  Yon update on Le Doings.

I read all the comments.  Then tried to use my computer, which promptly committed some random blast of poo, rendering it useless for such things as GOING ONLINE.  (I am writing this at the cop shop, and Husband has said that I can use his computer when he's out in his shop.  And since he has a big order from the company he works for, I should be able to get some computer time...)  I still get emails.  That is something, I guess.  I just can't convince the computer that google.com is NOT a virus.  I have narrowed it down to my Norton program, I think, so with any luck, I hopefully shall get some sort of solution after running a restart.

Again...

I want to say that on the comments, La Shaune, your comment that there should be a knitting bag in the shape of a Tardis has given me an idea, which I hope to work on soon, and will post in the (hopefully) near future.

Sharon, you should email me and I would see what I could do about the bag... If you don't mind a wait. :)

messymimi and Danielle, the even more annoying part, I exercised all week, and he didn't! Bah!!

Rain and Dreaming, this is the first time I have ever had dealings with a GPS, it was beginning to make me wonder what the fuss was about.  But in the city, it was a huge help, especially when I missed a turnoff...

bon bon, yes, I have found that knitting and sci-fi seem to go together.  Guess it's all that string theory, heh heh heh...

So, I have been helping at the Ren Faire site, cutting grass and weeding, putting off my garden, where I would be... cutting grass and weeding.  Life can be interesting that way, sometimes.

My llamas... Have been very friendly with one another, all except Llama.  She just walks away from the fray, grunts, and just watches the antics.  If I don't get a cria* out of this, it won't be for lack of (Lorenzo's) trying!

I have now had cucumbers, a few zucchinis, and 2 crookneck squash from my garden.

I have had a few tomatoes, but every one of them so far have been cracked because of all the rain we have had.  I keep thinking we could trade, give a few days of rain to some of the other states that are roasting, and they could give us about a 5 or ten degree up in temp to help with growing.  Right now, we are having weather more suited to April in this area, then August.  One bright spot, the fire danger is relatively low...

I was watching a movie, just getting into it, and our lovely digital programming got me, the signal went out.  (Insert various non-lady like words here).  I had a little bit of time before I went to the cop shop today, and went to the library.  I remembered they had videos.  I started snooping, and TA DA!  The movie that I had been watching was there.  I snapped it up, and most likely will watch it tonight or tomorrow.  Hey, I have the card, might as well use it, right?

I was reading that if you just do the same exercising, that your body can adjust to it, and you don't lose weight as quickly.  So I have added a daily set of sit ups.  I started at 100, and am now up to 300.  It seems to take forever.  But this week I lost about 1 1/2 pounds.  So we shall see.  I keep trying to figure out how to add push ups, but so far my knee won't cooperate.  (I have no kneecap on one side, so pressing on it for long periods doesn't work.)  I might a "knee pillow" of some sort, and start with like, oh, 10 push ups, see if I go into paroxysms of agony, if not, increase.  It's one of those things that I just have to go slow.

And I am up to the 8th handwritten page on my book.  It's a start!  Few hundred to go...
Heh.

Wishing all my readers GOOD computer time,
Cat

* cria is the term for a baby llama.

Thank you East Coast, keep it comin'...

We have snow on the mountain again!  Now, I know those of you who are up to your... elbows... in the stuff probably aren't impressed.  But...

No snow in winter = Drought in summer.

Yes, this is Oregon.  But it still happens.  And we had a "Pineapple Express", which means that after we had a lovely batch of snow up high, the Jet Stream changed to bring warm air and melt same.  So, it was looking a bit chancy for a while.  But there is snow up there.  Now if we could just keep it up there, and all of you on the other side could get your own Pineapple Express...  (Not all at once, however, or boats might be the next thing for that area...)

St. Valentine's was pretty quiet for us, Husband had a job, so we exchanged little gifts.  I gave him some candies he likes (Sweeties.  Thought it was appropriate, somehow.)  He gave me not one, but two cutting board that I have been asking about.  He made them.  I like smaller cutting board, and so he took a standard board, and cut it in half, then using some of the machines that he has, cut it out to make a cutting "island" with a pouring area when finished cutting.  I like!

We had dinner, and watched Toy Story 3.  Not the most romantic movie, perhaps, but it was one neither of us had seen, and certainly a better choice than Insomnia...

I am getting a few minor victories of accomplishment here, I have finished socks, Christmas Stocking, and FOUND THE VIDEO that I hadn't been able to find for about 2 months.  So, I can finally watch the guitar video like Husband suggested.

Found a pattern for a messenger bag, knitted.  It only takes about 1000 yards of yarn...  (Eep!)  I was thinking about using my hand spun, but even if I used every last scrap, I don't believe I would have enough.  I will look through the stash, but I suspect that there wouldn't be enough of any one color there, either.  And, as one of the gals said in spinning, it's sort of a waste to felt homespun, it's sort of like hiding it.  Sooo, I will have to budget for my latest thing.  But, the priority is chicks.  Chicks are coming into the feed store this next week, so I am am going to get out the heat lamp, water trough (It makes a terrific container for the wee clucklings), and the usual stuff and nonsense that I dig out for the babies.  We haven't had any bobcats for a while (knocking on wood frantically), so I am hoping that if I buy a batch, they will grow this time, and not become a feline buffet line.

So, what am I doing today?  I fed, then walked, (Rudee was really wanting to.  I was not.  Rudee won.  I wish that I could WAKE UP as perky as that dog, sometimes!), then did a bit of house cleaning.  Knit a sock toe.  Made lunch.  In all, a very unexceptional day.

You know, those are nice, sometimes.

And, I should be getting my Library Card any day now.  Just signed up, and then I can check out items with total disregard to the wall of books already in my house.  (Heh.)  In truth, I am actually looking for it as much for some of the video and music options as anything.  Magazines, too.

So.  I suppose I should go do something.  Hm.  Betcha I could start dinner soon.

The thrill never ends, yes?

:)
